Biography
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Corey Berends leads the company’s strategic vision and drives its business objectives, reporting to the Board of Directors.
With a wealth of experience in the consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry, Corey brings a deep understanding of sustainable solutions to his leadership role at Footprint.
Before joining Footprint in 2022, Corey spent 19 years with Conagra Brands, a leading brand-based food company. He led a Research and Development (R&D) team responsible for various areas, including product and package development, science and technology, nutrition, food safety, quality, and sustainability. This extensive background in CPG innovation and sustainability has been instrumental in guiding Footprint’s commitment to reducing environmental impact through innovative packaging solutions.
Corey serves as a Board member at the Northern Illinois Food Bank and is a member of the Virginia Tech College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Deans Advisory Committee.
Corey holds a Ph.D. in Food Science and Technology from Virginia Tech University and has Master’s and Bachelor’s of Science degrees in Packaging Engineering from Michigan State University.
